A man hit by a vehicle few minute ago is lying
dead at the BRT lane at Onipanu bus stop.
An eye eyewitness said a car ran over the yet to
be identified man as he attempted to cross the
Lagos Ikorodu road about 10.45pm on Sunday.
The car hit the man and threw him on the BRT
lane where his corpse is still lying.
"The man is wearing a shirt and trousser. He
should be about middle age. He was trying to
cross the road from the onipanu bus stop when a
private car hit him hard and threw him on the
BRT lane. He died instantly and his corpse is still
on the BRT lane".
Sadly this death would have been avoided as a
bridge is at the bus stop but few people make use
of the overhead bridge.
Hit and run deaths happen once in a while on the
busy Express road.
Another source who identified herself as Sarah
express worried over hit and run death.
She said "I have seen the corpse of a pregnant
woman on that Ikorodu Express road. I was
driving to work early one morning when I saw it
and it made me sad. People should learn to use
the overhead bridge," Sarah said.
The Lagos State government has put measures in
place to stop residents from dashing through the
Express roads but few people still make use of the
bridge. The officers of the Kick Against Indisciple
brigand, as well as local government officers were
deployed at major bus stops to stop people from
crossing the road.
The government in some cases also set up
perimeter fence to stop residents from crossing
express ways but to no avail.
