Sunday Oliseh Appointed as the New Coach Dutch Club Fortuna Sittard.

The super eagle former captain and coach, Sunday Oliseh,

has been selected as head coach of the Dutch second tier club Fortuna Sittard.

Sunday Oliseh, coached the super eagle ten months ago, previously played for Dutch giants Ajax

from 1997 to 1999.

The Dutch club confirmed his appointment on their official 

website, saying he had signed an 18-month contract with Fortuna Sittard.

Oliseh will take charge of training at Fortuna Sittard for the first time on 2 January.

The club's Turkish owner, Isitan Gün, in a report said he was 'very happy' to announce Oliseh's arrival.

"With Sunday Oliseh we signed a young and ambitious coach with vision, one players look up to," Gün said.

"We were looking for someone who plays attractive football combining it with the will to win. We think Sunday is the right one for this job," Gun added. Oliseh, who also played for Juventus and Borussia Dortmund during his club career, earned 63 caps for Nigeria.

He helped his country win the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations

and Olympic gold in 1996.

Monday 26th December while on his way to Isieke campus from Abakaliki, Ebonyi state.
He further expressed his heart-felt condolence to the immediate family of the deceased and his colleagues in the university.

“I just received with great shock the news of the unfortunate and untimely death of the president of the Senate of Ebonyi State University SUG. Comr David Nwizi whose death took place today in a ghastly motor accident on his way from Abakaliki town to Isieke.
“My condolence message goes to the incumbent SUG President Comrade Uguru Joseph, the entire members of the Senate, ebsu in general, all comrades who have had encounter with this young and humble fellow and of course the family.
“It is sad, but I pray that God Almighty who knows the end from the beginning will grant all who are saddened by his death the fortitude to bear this great loss and
grant his soul eternal rest. Amen.

France Attack: More Than 80 People Killed In Bastille Day Festival.

According to The Guardian

'At least 80 people have been killed in Nice after an armed man drove a truck at full speed for 2km through a crowd who had gathered to watch the Bastille Day fireworks display over the seafront.

The attack, which also injured scores of people, including dozens of children, on France’s national day, was the third terrorist atrocity to hit the country in 18 months, following the Charlie Hebdo killings and the massacre of 130 people in Paris in November.

“The whole of France is facing the threat of Islamist terrorism,” the president, François Hollande, said. He summoned senior ministers for a defence council on Friday morning before heading to the scene in Nice.

France has declared three days of national mourning, starting on Saturday, and a state of emergency that had been due to expire on July 26 was extended for three months.

“We are facing a war that terrorism has brought to us,” said Manuel Valls, the prime minister. “The only answer should be that of a united France.” Condolences poured in from around the world and officials in London and Washington said leaders were being briefed on the situation.

As the authorities confirmed a rising death toll, with 18 of the injured said to be in a critical condition, the scene of the attack, the seafront Promenade des Anglais, was closed off by police on Friday morning and people were advised to stay at home'.

A Brief History Of Elechi Amadi

As mentioned on en.wikipedia.org, Elechi Amadi was born 12th May 1934 in Aluu (near Port-Harcourt), in the year 1957 Elechi Amadi got married to Dorah Nwonne Ohale a midwife. Elechi studied physics and mathematics at the University College of Ibadan, which happens to be the second-largest city in Nigeria. After earning his degree in 1959, he worked as a surveyor for a year, and then became a science teacher. In the year 1963 Elechi joined the Nigerian Armed Forces. Upon being discharged of his duty from the Nigerian Military in the year 1966, He took a job at ASA Grammar School as an headmaster. He wrote his first book that was an outstanding work on fiction 'The Concubine' in year 1966, the book earned him so much reputation as writer both locally and internationally.

The Concubine follows the story of a beautiful young village girl in Omokachi, Ihuoma is from a Igbo tribe her plight in the tale was centered on her past life when she was said to be married to a Jealous Mystical sea King, which lead to death and suffering of her 3 lovers. The novel portray a African society that is still ruled by traditional gods, and the strength of this novel lies on the fact that it is a hyper realistic fiction despite the penetration of supernatural.
Elechi Amadi's writing career was paused for a while during the Nigeria Civil war which broke out in the year 1967, and then ended in the year 1970. Elechi Amadi next work 'The Great pound' seem to be a metaphor, the novel talks about battle between two village communities over possession of a pond.

In the year 1973 publish his non-fiction autobiography 'Sunset in Biafra'. It records his presonal experience in the civil war, and was published in London.
There was no Book from Elechi Amadi until 1979 when he published 'The Slave', the story is about Olumati, who is the last in his family linage, Olumati was forced to serve as slaves to a god at a shrine in another village. He tries to restore his family’s standing, but forces conspire against this plan.
Other books written by Elechi Amadi includes: Isiburu, (1973) Peppersoup, (1977) Road To Ibadan, (1977) Estrangement, (1985).
Elechi was kidnapped in on January 5 2009 in Aluu Ikwere by some unknown gunmen, He was later released the following day January 6 2009. on June 29, 2016 Elechi Amadi died at the age of 82 at Good Heart Hospital, Port-Harcourt, Elechi is survived by eight children, seven girls and one boy.
